SMTT is the only organisation concerned with the rights and interests of the Tiwi Growers.
Growers stand to lose their total investment in Tiwi plantations if they do not fight for their rights.
The Tiwi Growers were abandoned by the Receivers and Managers of Great Southern Managers Australia Ltd, the former responsible entity.
Gunns Plantations Ltd, the responsible entity for the former Great Southern Schemes of the 2005 and 2006 plantations have declared that Tiwi growers have no economic interests in the pooled harvest proceeds to be derived from those schemes.
Ferrier Hodgson, the Liquidator of the Great Southern Group, has declared their intention to wind up the Sylvatech Schemes and those Great Southern Schemes with 2007 and 2008 plantations on the Tiwi Islands.
